"Weight gain is like quick sand. You feel stuck and despite all your efforts, you can't get out. And the more you try to get out, the deeper you sink. You realize you can't get out alone.
I can get you out. I promise I can help get you out. If you're in quick sand, you can't get yourself out, but neither can someone jump in there to get you out. I can't jump in there with you. But I can stand on the shore and guide you out. You're going to have to trust me.
The first thing you must do is stop struggling. Relax. Stop panicking. Because the more you panic, and the more you struggle, the deeper you sink. So trust me, lean back. Lean yourself back right now.
I really really need you to look up. Lean back and look up. I know when you do, you won't be able to see me anymore, but trust me, I'm standing on the shore and I'm not leaving. You can hear my voice and I'm staying right here until we get you to shore.
I'm still here. I won't leave, I won't quit talking to you until you're out. Even if we're here for a very long time. Okay? Again, what I want you to do is lean back and relax. Then, once you are relaxed... then and only then, move very, very slowly, without panic or struggle, just move one inch toward my voice.... just one inch, then stop and lean back again... I'm still here and I'll stay here as long as it takes, until you get to the shore with me.
I promise I can and will get you out." - Shelley
